FAQ
IS MY CHILD THE APPROPRIATE AGE FOR THIS CAMP?
Creator Camp can be enjoyed by kids of all ages, but the virtual content and activities are most appropriate for those 5-12.
Kids participating in optional “clubhouses” will be grouped together by age and grade level with activities geared specifically toward that age group.
WHAT LEVEL OF PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT IS REQUIRED?
The level of parental involvement depends on the age and ability of your child. We will be using a combination of livestream classes and virtual interactive activities that require students to type comments and suggestions into a web form, if your child is unable to type on their own, a grownup may be needed to help them participate.
Parents may also need to facilitate transitions between activities, additionally, during some activities, grownups may need to help kids get set up with paper, pens, tape, etc. We will provide a detailed schedule for each week and a list of suggested supplies so parents can prepare in advance.
HOW MUCH SCREEN TIME IS INVOLVED?
Each day of Creator Camp (M,W,F) is 2 hours long and consists mainly of live-stream content and interactive virtual activities. The overall experience will be broken up into 20-30 minute segments with short off-line breaks in between for kids to step away from the screen, eat a snack, and move their feet.
The small group clubhouses are 90 minutes and will be hosted either before or after the main block of Camp. Within that 90 minutes, Story Pirates’ teaching artists will lead 30-45 minute interactive virtual activities, with breaks for independent project time where kids will have a chance to work on their own creative projects. In clubhouses, kids will still be monitored by Story Pirates teaching artists at all times, including during breaks.
Please note that specific timing of virtual content and breaks is subject to change.
WHAT ARE CLUBHOUSES?
Campers who want a more personalized experience or are looking for even more Story Pirates fun can choose one of our virtual “clubhouses” on Tuesday or Thursday. Led by Story Pirates’ expert teaching artists, clubhouses are hosted privately via Zoom and allow kids to engage with each other as a small group and participate in creative writing, improv, and imaginary play activities.
HOW MANY KIDS ARE IN A CLUBHOUSE?
There will be around 20 kids in a clubhouse grouped by age. At certain points during clubhouse time, the larger group will be broken into smaller groups. All clubhouses and breakout groups are under the supervision of Story Pirates’ teaching artists.
CAN I REQUEST MY CAMPER TO BE IN A CERTAIN CLUBHOUSE?
We are always happy to take requests for grouping friends or family members together! Have them sign up for the same camp and clubhouse slot, then contact us here. Please note that we may not always be able to accommodate every special request we receive.
WHAT SUPPLIES ARE NEEDED FOR CAMP?
Every camp activity can be done with a blank piece of paper and a pen.

HOW DO I GET A CREATOR CLUB DISCOUNT?
Discounts are ONLY available for annual and premium members or attendees of Creator Camp. To upgrade your Creator Club membership and receive your discount code, click here.
If you’re already an annual or premium member, email us here if you missed your discount code.
DO YOU PROVIDE SIBLING DISCOUNTS?
Only one basic camp registration is required per family each week. However, because we are striving to give each child who participates in our small-group clubhouses an individual experience (even if they have siblings in the camp and are sharing a screen), we ask that families purchase a clubhouse for each child who will be participating.
WHAT IS YOUR PRIVACY POLICY?
Story Pirates will be taking all reasonable measures to preserve your privacy and the privacy of your children. Story Pirates are enacting these virtual learning environments in compliance with recommendations of Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Creator Camp clubhouses will include a group feature with participation by multiple kids. For the purposes of Creator Camp, Story Pirates has disabled specific features within Zoom to ensure the safety and privacy of kids. All Zoom sessions are password protected and campers must be admitted by Story Pirates staff.
