The Story Pirates continue to celebrate the imaginations of kids with their recent full-length studio album, Backstroke Raptor, their weirdest and wildest collection of songs yet spanning several genres. Lin-Manuel Miranda is a featured guest on The Wizard Who Could Just Go Poof,” a rap set to the melody of “Pachelbel’s Canon.”  Listeners enjoy 11 original songs from a soulful pop anthem about animals changing the world to an 8-bit video game inspired song about a girl having superpowers and a Western-style ballad about a dude made of cement. Backstroke Raptor follows two seasons of the Story Pirates’ popular podcast and their first album, Nothing Is Impossible.

What Others Are Saying

“A child’s vivid imagination is a true treasure, and that’s what the Story Pirates steal — or rather borrow — in their endlessly amusing work.”
-Laurel Graeber, The New York Yimes

“He should be proud when he rocks out to “Backstroke Raptor,” a peppy ode to a water-loving dinosaur who helps his buddies fix a boat and escape their island. The plot was Ben’s idea.”
-Vicky Hallett, The Washington Post

“And now comes Backstroke Raptor, an eclectic mix of musical genres that includes, for example, one song about a giraffe who wants to save the world but doesn’t know how and another about a dude made of wet cement.”
-Sarah Lindenfeld Hall, Mashable
